The American Folklore Society (AFS) has announced that their 2022 Annual Meeting will be held October 12-15, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Hyatt Regency Tulsa.
The announcement focuses heavily on the theme of the meeting, which is “Re-Centering the Periphery.” They state that this theme “calls us to focus on the intersections of what is marginalized and centralized both in our field and in the larger public debates about national identities in 2022. The multiple perspectives, peoples, communities, and histories that make up the story of Oklahoma intersect with and challenge many of the tropes we often use to symbolize the nation.”
Potential participants should note that registration is open, and proposals are due March 31, 2022. The announcement notes that more information can be found on the 2022 Annual Meeting page.
